The much awaited Annual Sports Meet – 2017-18 of Johnson Grammar School, ICSE was held on Thursday, 30th November. The aim behind holding the event was to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and fondness for sports in children. Amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation, the chief guest, Dr Priyanka Ala, IAS, known for her boundless energy and dynamism was invited. It was indeed a privilege and blessing to have Mr. Padma Rao Goud, the Sports Minister for Telangana State as the Guest of Honour on the special evening of splendor. JGS extends its warm reception to the Guest of the D Day Mr. Shawn Kelly, the Global Director of Safeguarding for Pearson. The event began with the initiation of the traditional auspicious Lamp by the chief guest. The proud and privileged national level winners then initiated the Victory run holding the vibrant School torch with high reverence. As the even was declared open by the chief guest Dr Priyanka Ala, formally by a simple but heartfelt dedication to the desire for peace, the cauldron was lit and this was the most intriguing aspect of the evening, embellishing the event. The Flame of the JGS Torch spread a message to the everyone to learn the art of fair play and imbibe a high regard to cooperation and togetherness. It was followed by a flag hoisting ceremony. The proud and privileged School Cabinet, Band students, members of scouts and guides and NCC, followed by the 4 Groups marched as a mark of respect towards the nation, organization, chief guest and the gathering. An oath was administered by the Head Boy to participate in the sports day with true sportsman spirit. The audience had the pleasure of listening to the opening remarks of the Headmistress of Johnson Grammar School, ICSE, Junior Wing, Mallapur, Mrs. K.L.Surekha when she presented the annual report and threw some light on the students’ accomplishments so far. The chief guest Dr Priyanka Ala, the alumni of JGS, a dynamic officer has inspired everyone with her motivational address. The Guest of honour, Mr. Padma Rao Goud stressed on the importance of sports in students’ life and urged students to love the job they take up. ‘Love what you do. Do what you love’ was the message given by him to the young people. An array of drills and races were organised that left the audience mesmerised. The National Level and State Level Sports and Literary Achievers were awarded trophies for their exemplary accomplishments.This Spectacular Sports Meet then saw the culmination with the National Anthem. It was then declared that the Annual Sports Meet - 2017-18 was fruitfully completed.
